In Cleveland from the athletes, to musicians, to the everyday working man, the city has always had alot of camaraderie.

That is no more evident from the relationship that has seemed to formed between Cleveland Browns Josh Cribbs and Bad Boy recording artist Machine Gun Kelly, who both rep the city they call home to the fullest.

Cribbs who celebrated a birthday on June 9th was invited on stage by Machine Gun Kelly during his Cleveland performance. Below is a video of how their relationship has come to be what we see today.

For 18 years people have wondered and speculated on the 1994 shooting of rap artist 2Pac. Was he set up, was is it a robbery gone wrong, etc? Well question no more, according to Hip Hop Wired & Village Voice, Jimmy Henchman CEO of Czar Entertainment, admitted to government officials that he indeed did arrange for 2Pac to be shot in the lobby of Quad City Studios in New York City.

From the Village Voice;

“Rosemond secretly admitted to involvement in Tupac’s ambush during one of nine “Queen For A Day” proffer sessions with the government last autumn, court transcripts show. (In such sessions, suspects under investigation choose to enter an agreement with the government to confess knowledge of certain crimes with the agreement that the information won’t be used to prosecute them.) His confession unfolded as he was trying to carve out a cooperation deal that might lead to a reduced sentence, according to federal prosecutors.

“Rosemond apparently came clean about his involvement in Tupac’s ambush shortly after his former best friend, Dexter Isaac, stepped forward last summer to publicly confess that he had led the attack on Shakur in 1994. Isaac released a statement on June 16, 2011 to allhiphop.com, saying it was Rosemond who had paid him to rob and pistol-whip Tupac.”

After years of denial, its nice to see someone be somewhat accountable for their actions, in what led to the untimely death of one of the greatest artist of the last century.

I pose the question, with Henchman admitting to this crime; does this validate more of what 2Pacs’ account of what happened on that night? Does it also lend more validity to his assertions that he was set up because he was willing to tell the truth about all the dirt everyone was involved in and was basically shot as a warning to not rock the boat? And let’s assume this shooting never occurs, does 2Pacs’ life and career still take the harsh and cold tone that you heard in his last two albums released before and after his death?

One can only wonder what else Henchman has admitted to and who else he possibly has implicated.

While many think Cleveland fans have yet to move on from LeBron and his decision, I’d say people won’t stop mentioning Cleveland when they talk about LeBron. However, in the video below hometown favorites rap artist Machine Gun Kelly and Cleveland Brown Josh Cribbs converse about LeBron and how they could never see themselves abandoning Cleveland as their home.

Cribbs also goes to allude that LeBron was on the ‘wrong path’ when he chose to go to Miami. I wonder if he feels the same now that LeBron has won his first title?

The only thing I would question about this video, Cribbs and LeBron are still friends, from time to time you’ll see a picture of them together pop up. With Cribbs making such remarks, just comes off a little as pandering to your current fan base.

You’ve heard over the years artist complain of touring conditions, cramped dressing rooms, and bad hotel service. Well Slaughterhouse has been blogging about their tour on their website ==> Slaughterhouse. In the last episode of their video series they tell you about some of the issues they’ve experienced during the European leg of the tour.

I tell you this, I’m not staying anywhere that doesn’t have an effing ceiling, no way no how. And obviously that promoter never heard of Big Worm, doesn’t he know playing with a mans money is like playing with his emotions?

Weekend Wrap Up #4

Did you hear…?

R. Kelly owes the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) early $5 million in unpaid taxes dating as far back as 2005.

According to TMZ Kelly, here is what Kelly neglected to pay;

2005 – $1,472,366.77

2006 – $710,520.51

2007 – $376,180.11

2008 – $1,122,694.90

2009 – $173,815.18

2010 – $992,495.24

A total of $4,848,072.71.

A rep for Kelly tells TMZ, “R. Kelly is in the process of working everything out with the government and is confident that all his obligations will be satisfied.”

Kelly’s rep didn’t offer an explanation for why the singer stopped paying his taxes. I understand the life of a celebrity can be busy and hectic but how in the world can someone just forget to pay their taxes for seven years. Considering the large amount of money Kelly has made over the years, it makes you wonder why he didn’t pay his taxes. What would the reason for him to not pay? You think Kelly just blew threw all the money he’s made from 2005-2010?

Actress and comedian Yvette Wilson has lost her fight with cervical cancer and kidney disease on June 14, 2012. She passed at the age of 48. A friend of Wilson, Jeffrey Pittle, told CNN that she passed away on Thursday around 7 p.m.

After a start in stand-up comedy where she appeared on HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam”Wilsonlanded her first acting roles in the 1993 ABC sitcom “Thea” and in the films “House Party 3,” “Friday” and “Poetic Justice.”Wilsonwas best known for her character Andell Wilkerson on the sitcom “Moesha” in 1996. She also played Andell on the “Moesha” spin-off “The Parkers”.

I hope this story would be a warning to young women. According to WebMD

Most cervical cancer is caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV). You can get HPV by having sexual contact with someone who has it. You can have HPV for years and not know it. It stays in your body and can lead to cervical cancer years after you were infected. A Pap test can find changes in cervical cells before they turn into cancer. If you treat these cell changes, you may prevent cervical cancer.

It is very important for young women to make sure you visit your primary care physician and get tested. If there are any abnormalities in a Pap smear, there is a greater chance to prevent any cervical cells developing into cervical cancer if found early. The HPV vaccine will help protect against two types of HPV for those ages 9-26 years old. Coming from someone who has had abnormalities show on a pap smear and recently received the HPV vaccine, I urge everyone to make sure you get tested and be attentive to your health.

It’s been five years since ABC Anchor Robin Roberts announced to the world that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then she battled and beat the disease.

On June 11, 2012 Roberts announced that she was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). MDS is a disease of the blood and bone marrow and was once known as preleukemia. It is said that it can be brought on by chemotherapy and radiation, treatments that Roberts underwent during her fight with breast cancer. “Sometimes the treatment for cancer can cause other serious medical problems,” Roberts said in her message on the ABC News website.

Robin Roberts said marrow donors “are scarce and particularly for African-American women,” she said. “I am very fortunate to have a sister who is an excellent match, and this greatly improves my chances for a cure.”

Unfortunately, the treatment that goes along with fighting cancer can have effects on the body to where a second cancer can occur at some point in time. I personally seen this with close family members affected by cancer. Once the cancer was in remission, it returned years later in another form. Even thought I haven’t physically been in the same situation as Roberts, I can sympathize with her and hope that with her strong will and fight, she will beat this round just like the last one.

Let this be an opportunity to bring awareness to cancer screening and bone marrow donation and how it can help save the lives of many, especially among African American women.

In hip hop there are plenty of rules to abide by, and CanIbus broke about 5 of them last night. In a pay-per-view battle with rapper Dizaster he felt the need to pull out a notepad and recite his rhymes from there.

In a freestyle battle, everything is supposed to come from whatever you’ve memorized and can think of in the heat of the moment. So for CanIbus to have someone pass him his notepad and him announce that he conceded defeat is in my opinion insulting to the sport of freestyling. It also only furthers the thought that CanIbus is only good when he can recite written rhymes or stealing quotes out of books or biting others.

Outside of the embarrassment CanIbus should feel, the video is utterly hilarious. When I watched it I fully expected CanIbus to destroy this cat. And once he took to the mic, and gave his soliloquy, I almost felt I was watching Comic View. I couldn’t believe that he just basically said, ‘I quit, this dude just beat me and I’m not clever enough to remember what I rehearsed or to come up with something on the spot’. I almost feel like he should pay me for the time I wasted to watch him clown himself.

What’s even worse, he actually held his own, just as you would expect of him, and the fact that he quit makes him look like a joke when you think about his career. The same guy who went toe to toe with legend LL Cool J, challenged Eminem and others, is giving up against a relative nobody? You couldn’t convince me that was real if there wasn’t video. Perhaps this is last we’ll have to hear about CanIbus, and those that tout him as a high caliber MC, unless by MC they mean master chump.

Below is the clip of CanIbus quitting

Below is the video to the full battle

In what he thought was just another innocuous tweet, Drake threw out into the atmosphere that the first million was the hardest to acquire.

Well as a person who has no millions, who would I be to disagree with Drake right? However there are plenty of billionaires who would like to think differently on said mission.

Boone Pickens known billionaire tweeted back at Drake that the first billion is a whole lot harder.

No lie, this really happened, see below…

Boone Pickens tweets back at Drake

Not often you can see someone get styled on for such a throw away statement. What makes this so funny is who would’ve picked Boone Pickens as the one to hit Drake with such a hard right to the jaw? If he’s going to tweet stuff like this, then I’m going to have to hit that follow button on Mr Pickens and you should do the same.

Bone Pugs and Harmony- Video

Thought this video was pretty funny, pugs re-enacting Bone Thugs N Harmonys’ hit First of da month. Its quite hilarious.

Kahsyno (pronounced Casino) has released his second mix tape Memoirs of a Time Traveler with Dj Battlecat behind him does he hit the jackpot or is he left with no chips?

The tape starts off with an old school sample and then gradually comes the hard hitting drum for Hollaback, where he gives you memorable lines like “Keep a lot of green like an A’s” fan. The beat is hot and it’s a decent song for an intro. Hollaback is followed up by Dumb, which sounds like his club song. After hearing him perform this live the recorded version sounds like it lacks the energy necessary for me to go dumb. Not a bad song though the beat is straight, absolutely something to play in the car to let the speakers bump. Rated X and How Could You have nice beats (Rated X the better of the two) the lyrics were cool but it comes off like he’s trying too hard to relate and make a ladies track. On Rated X there was a too much talking during the intro, and at the end the conversation went just a little too long and wore out its welcome by its close. Next up is Shoe Game where he uses a Lil Wayne sample to brag on his shoe game. The first time I listened to this song, I hated it, but it grew on me, one of the lines that stuck with me were “when it’s time to party/ decide on a pair of Barkley’s’ when feeling sadity/ throw on a pair penny’s”. So if you’re a shoe head this song will definitely have you checking your shoe collection in comparison. On KO Kahsyno makes it a point to tell you he’s ready to bubble like root beer. He sounds most comfortable on songs like this throughout the cd where he’s allowed to be lyrical. Live Wit It has the same effect as dumb, I’ve seen him perform this live, and the recorded version comes off just a little dry. However, if it’s your first time hearing it, it’s definitely a toe tapper. Lookin For A |Dime and I’ma Get Her have the kind of energy you would expect from club songs; however for me lyrically they don’t showcase his true skills or measure up to the bar he set on other songs. On I’ma Get Her he’s outshined by his comrades and comes off sounding listless. Nonetheless the beats these songs are accompanied with will probably have listeners not paying much attention to the lyrics.

My favorite track on the cd is Can’t Stop Me; he talks about overcoming obstacles and being focused on his goals. With lyrics like “I get ya mind high just like a poppy seed” he keeps your attention throughout the whole song, and with Froggy G on the hook and DJ Battlecat on the boards this song is one of the best on the cd. Had We Met is a track where he speaks about meeting a chick and contemplates had they met somewhere else would the relationship be different. “Way before Kahsyno, back then just Thomas/I’m still the same dude now I promise/ just a lil older, a lil more polished” is how he tries to tell her he’s the same guy he’s always been. This song seems more like him and how he would approach the ladies compared to Rated X. Feel good music is just what it sounds like, upbeat instrumental and lyricism to accompany. Nice follow up to Had We Met, it keeps the feel good vibe going. Stay seems out of sequence, sounds like an emcee venting his frustration, though a good song but breaks up the feel good vibe that rounded out the album. Nevertheless, to end the cd is Toast where he toast and to all those who have helped him along his journey, fitting song to end with. All in all I’d definitely recommend this album to anyone. He’s not your run of the mill rapper talking about drugs and guns just because. He gives you lyrics, some joints to play in your ride and some rock to in the club. On a scale of 1-10 it’s a solid 7.5. It’s without doubt a cd I’d keep in the car to throw in.

Rapper T.I. Goes Back to Jail

T.I. was released yesterday from jail in Arkansas and was to report to a halfway house in Atlanta. Only problem is, he never made it to the halfway house, upon his arrival federal agents were waiting there to transport him to back to federal prison in Atlanta. Arkansas officials claim that he misled them on his method of travel, not informing them that he would be traveling by tour bus back to Atlanta, which may be a violation of his probation. Now as petty as this may be, if you were T.I. why would you take any chance running a foul of the law. Why not just ride back quietly and wait till you get at least back home to push the envelope. T.I. reminds of that character Can’t Get Right from the movie Life, he just can’t get right and most times its the smallest of details that get him caught up
